Issue 51 | July-September 2020 12 REGISTRY REGISTRATIONS, RE-REGISTRATIONS AND TERMINATIONS Note: As at the end of the second quarter, the total number of active RAs was 3,827. While a number of registration applications have been received and are under consideration, there were no new registrations or re-registrations approved and entered into the register during the period under review. A total of 27 registered auditors (RAs) were removed from the register, the most prevalent reason for removals being resignation, followed by death. The names of RAs removed from the register are provided in the table below. The IRBA understands that many practitioners faced difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant lockdown. As such, we have tried to accommodate, within reasonable parameters, requests for extensions and/or payment arrangements. However, as it is now four months after the May deadline, we are now obliged to start lapsing RAs for non-payment of annual fees. This process will commence on 15 October 2020. In view of the above, RAs are requested to ensure that their annual fees are paid and that proof of payment is accordingly transmitted to the IRBA.
